Home for Mentally Challenged in India

My name is JB Sajnany, I am the father of a mentally challenged girl, and currently I am residing in the USA along with my wife and daughter. Since she is our only child, and there is no one in the family to look after her after we are gone, I propose to start a home for mentally challenged children/adults cum old age home, in the outskirts of Mumbai, India. There are several private and government run homes for mentally challenged children in Mumbai however, I have not across any home where parents of such children also live and provide love & care to the children.
The broad outline of the home is as under:
- Mentally challenged children/adults will live in this home along with their parents
- Approximately 30 children + 60 parents
- The home will be on a plot of approximately 5-6 acres
- Activities for children will include, Gardening, arts & crafts (example: paper bag making), Jam & Jelly making, printing press, etc. More suggestions are welcome
- The home will be run under a charitable institution, and will be managed by the parents.
- The home will also provide opportunity to the parents to contribute in their areas of expertise/interest, like, administration, activity co-ordination, fund raising, accounting, computer related work, facility maintenance, etc
Common Facilities:
Common facilities will include,
Kitchen: where parents/children can contribute with their labor, apart from paid employees
Laundry: Equipped with washers & dryers
TV Room
In door & out door games
Location:
In my view, the location should be within 60-90 minutes drive from Mumbai so that for any major medical need, the facility could be accessed in a timely manner.
Location should also be closer to a nursing hospital (within 5 KMs) for immediate medical needs.
Long Term Plans:
So what happens when the parents of such children pass away or become incapable of looking after their children because of old age.
The whole idea of having 30 families coming together and forming a big family/community is the reason to take care of above eventuality.
Finances:
Initially, the project could be started with contributions from 30 parents, and later for day to day operations, depending on finances of residents, donations could be sought from corporate houses.
Your Suggestions:
If you are interested in any way, shape or form, please give your input/suggestions,
